The current MEN aims to gather information on relevant interested organisations (and their capabilities and expertise) that would be interested in contributing to the delivery of the second phase of the STEP programme (2025-2030) on an aspect related to low-activation WC for in-vessel applications.
UKIFS is planning to procure small quantities (~5 kg) each of multiple grades of low-activation WC within required property thresholds detailed in the material specification below. Three of the most promising grades proposed by suppliers, that are within the specification thresholds, will be procured following a tender process. These grades will be characterised, tested and irradiated to determine their suitability for STEP in-vessel applications. UKIFS will lead the delivery of this testing campaign over the next 4 years through collaboration and/or subcontracting, leading to a decision on a baseline grade of low-activation WC

UKIFS is seeking to identify and gather information from suppliers with the capability to support the early procurement of PdAg alloy (specifically in a 75/25% composition) for the STEP (Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production) Fuel Cycle development programme. This includes the supply of the alloy in various forms, such as tubes, sheets, and foils.

The current Preliminary Market Engagement Notice aims to gather information on relevant interested organisations (and their capabilities and expertise) that would be interested in contributing to the delivery of the second phase of the STEP programme (2025-2030) by producing 316LN(IG) Austenitic stainless steel for in-vessel applications.
UKIFS is planning to procure up to 3 tonnes of 316LN(IG) austenitic stainless steel to cover the requirements of the second phase of the STEP programme. The material is to be provided in the SA condition, with forms of interest include forging, plates and pipe.
The required chemistry and property thresholds are detailed in the RCC-MRx -material specification provided in the attached Preliminary Market Engagement Notice word document.
The material will be characterised, tested and irradiated to determine their suitability for STEP in-vessel applications. UKIFS will lead the delivery of this testing campaign over the next 4 years through collaboration and/or subcontracting.
The supplier is to indicate its capabilities to produce this material (in accordance with the RCC-MRx code), the quantities it is capable of producing, the forms that it can produce and the estimated lead times for producing this material.

The aims to identify potential suppliers and testing capability for the provision of gas sorption analysis within a fixed bed flow reactor instrument or testing rig.
The purpose of this document is to provide information on the testing campaign required in sufficient detail to identify a suitable instrument, rig or facility to host a testing campaign. An overview of the testing capabilities for packed-bed flow reactors is requested to define a subsequent tender specification that aligns the availability of sample materials with instrumentation capability to realise a feasible testing campaign.
UKIFS will supply material samples for testing in kind according to the conditions outlined in Table 1 of the Market Engagement Document Provided
The start date of the subsequent contract that may be placed to perform the testing would be within the month of November 2025. and contractual end date will be 31st of March 2026.
