Industry provides simulation software and methods covering a wide range of capability, deployed across all engineering sectors, much of which will be invaluable for use in the design and operation of fusion reactors in a Fusion energy industry. However, the extent to which existing capability is sufficient to facilitate design and realisation of commercial fusion powerplants is not clearly defined. Industry Simulation Software for Fusion is a multi-year rolling project aiming to define Fusion relevant analysis and simulation case studies and use them as a formal basis to engage industry for evaluation of their simulation software capability and identify development needs. The case studies to be submitted will span the full range of domains relevant to realisation of fusion as an energy source, with a mixture of single and multi-domain scenarios and involving use of a variety of methods and techniques. A total of four case study areas are covered in the procurement exercise which is now complete. 11 companies across 4 frameworks with no company receiving more than £60k excluding VAT in total.

UKAEA had a requirement for CAE Workstations for users of software products from the companies Dassault and Ansys.
These specialist workstations will be purchased from the successful bidder after a further competition via Lot 2 of the Crown Commercial Services RM6098 Framework.
All values excluding VAT. Desktops will be purchased singly and in batches over the course of the contract.

UKAEA uses a self-hosted GitLab CE instance to manage and ensure quality against our internally developed software. It has broad usage, with 1500 users and close to 8000 projects. However, we have been tied to an out of support version (13.1.11) for the past three years, with a project to migrate the instance to new infrastructure and upgrade to newer versions running for the past year and a half. The project is nearing a phase where we can run a stable installation on the new infrastructure with data migrated from our existing instance. We are looking to supplement the team with deep GitLab knowledge to provide assurance that the migration and upgrade pathway is suitable for implementation. We expect the scope of the work to include:
Familiarisation with our existing GitLab instance, running on a single node + runners, with git repositories mounted over NFS.
Review of our migration strategy, to a single GitLab node + three-node gitaly cluster, with deployment and configuration automated via Ansible.
Assisting with implementation of any outstanding tasks identified as part of the migration strategy review.
Exposing any remaining errors in logs and assisting the team in triaging issues as they come up.
Advising on general good practice.
This is an award notice only after competition of an exercise via G Cloud 14.

The UKAEA seeks an online digital image, video, and document library that is supplied, technically supported, and hosted. Additionally, we aim for an ongoing partnership for site maintenance and development.
The Contractor's scope shall include the design, manufacture, delivery, and functional demonstration (including all required testing, verification, and documentation) for two (2) off SPOT Arm Haptic Control System hardware.
Water and wastewater supply services arranged through aggregation competition run by Crown Commercial Services.

Figures are excluding VAT and are for one year only.
This is a Contracts for Innovation (previously SBRI) competition funded by the UK Atomic Energy Authority. The aim of the competition is to develop solutions to fusion energy challenges in two key priority areas. The competition has 1 theme: Novel shielding materials and technologies for fusion.
We expect to fund a number of projects. Each project should be delivered by April 2026.
Each project can range in size up to total costs of £250,000, inclusive of VAT.
Please refer to attachments for the full competition guidance.
UKAEA are seeking to deploy a science DMZ (https://fasterdata.es.net/science-dmz/) to allow high data rates between UKAEA sites and to and from global HPC systems. This will involve the daily transfer of hundreds of Terabytes of data in support of our mission to support the development of commercial fusion power for a low carbon future. UKAEA already has provision through JISC for a burst speed of up to 200Gbps. To ensure we have the necessary hardware to be able to transmit data at a sufficient rate, we are looking to purchase up to 4 Data Transfer Nodes (DTNs) capable of saturating 100GbE network links per node.
The purchase provides a reliable multi-factor authentication (MFA) solution for on-premises applications like virtual private networks (VPNs) and for cloud and mobile applications, including Office 365, Salesforce and Workday.
The contract is in place on a 1+1+1 basis totalling three years maximum.
All figures exclude VAT.
Award via exercise carried out on G Cloud 14.
Provide objective advice to support the delivery if the AI Data Centre at Culham Campus. Work packages will be agreed with the UKAEA PM with clear scope and deliverables and estimate costs based on rates outlined within this agreement.

Wellspring Evolve is IP and innovation management software tool. It provides a single tool to manage the organisations IP portfolio, linked to innovation and tech transfer opportunities. Additional functionality includes: inventor portals, divisional reporting, dashboard functionality, email storage, bulk data upload which opens up opportunities to capture financial data. Due to the nature of data that will be stored in a UKAEA IP management software tool DESNZ have stated that it must meet very high security standards.
UKAEA is upgrading two current internet facing 2600F FortiGate Firewalls.
With the procurement of the 2 new internet facing firewalls, there is also the need to upgrade the Forti-analyzer currently deployed at UKAEA.
This is an award notice only not a call to competition.
The requirement has been procured via Lot 6 of the JISC Network Solutions Framework.
