NMRN is seeking to appoint a Design and Build contractor to redesign and fit out the public facing areas of Warnefords Café at Fleet Air Arm Museum (FAAM) in Yeovilton, Somerset. The redesign and fit out will include a new counter, catering equipment, decor of the space and furniture. Some non-load baring walls will need to be removed as part of the fit out. The fit out needs to be completed by 23 March 2022. Information on how to apply is set out in the ITT document - Annex A attachment outlines the specification for the works. Amended on 26th November to add in a maximum budget that is a increase from the original listed price.

The NMRN are seeking works to the cofferdam which is beneath the submarine HMS Alliance. The cofferdam requires the removal of the stone ballast (and storage) to access to repair the drainage, as well as removal of the walkway at the bow end of the cofferdam. The walkway will require re-installation as part of the works itself after the drainage of the cofferdam has been repaired and the ballast removed reinstated. This is detailed in the Annex's of this document. The work will be carried out at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum, and the work carried out will often be with the museum itself open to the public. However the NMRN understands that some work will require the closure of the site or the submarine for the work to be carried out.

Our current network switches are now end of life. We are seeking supply of replacement network switches for all NMRN sites to replace the current ones.

NMRN is seeking to appoint a contractor to design and supply a new lighting scheme for the Museum Shop and Princess Royal Gallery conference room in Storehouse 11. Introduction A.1. The next decade is a key period in the 260 year - long story of HMS Victory's service and survival. Over the next 10 years the National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) are leading on the conservation of HMS Victory to ensure the long-term preservation of a world-class historic vessel and an exemplar of a Royal Navy capital warship from the Age of Sail. A.3. The aim of the HMS Victory Conservation Project is to deliver a fully-conserved ship, able to survive in an open environment, and in a condition to survive for the next 50 years without major work beyond a programme of planned maintenance. This programme will commence in early 2022. A.4. The conservation work includes the replacement of all external and some internal planking and structural timber elements. In order to achieve this, the National Museum is redeveloping its workshop facility in order to process Oak planks where they will be cut and laminated in order to achieve the dimensions required. In addition, decorative elements and compass timbers will also be processed in the new workshop facility. A.5. New wood working machinery is needed to enable this work to take place. A.6. Maximum dimensions of timbers being processed are between 25ft - 35ft long, up to 2ft wide and 8in thick. Requirements A.7. The National Museum is seeking a supplier to supply and install wood working machinery A.8. Introductory training for NMRN shipwright team encompassing day-to-day operation and maintenance. A.9 Option for 3-year maintenance and support contract, with option for extensions to include the servicing of the machinery provided and installed. NOTES A.10. The installation needs to take place in July 2022 during the final stages of the workshop redevelopment project. RESPONSE TO TENDER TO INCLUDE A.11. As part of the National Museum of the Royal Navy's conservation project of HMS Victory there will be a significant increase in the requirement to handle large quantities of a variety of materials in the Historic Ships Workshops at the NMRN's Portsmouth site. The NMRN intend to obtain a forklift that is able to move palletised loads, timber baulks and free-standing objects on and off the racking and between all 3 bays. For example the baulks of stored timber are stored on 2 aisles of cantilever racking. Aisle width 3.3m, top level of racking 7.5m and roof truss height 8.9m. Similarly accessing the rigging store and large objects from the museum collection on a mix of cantilever and standard racking both free-standing and palletised. The top level of racking is 5.5m and roof truss height 8.9m. With the maximum weight of the items specified up above reaching approximately 3,000kg. Purchase of Leica RTC360 3D Laser Scanner Background 1.1. As part of the conservation project of HMS Victory there will be a significant increase in the requirement to record the ship accurately in 3D. 1.1.1. The laser scanner will be used to capture the ship and its elements as they become exposed, throughout the conservation project. 1.1.2. The resulting point cloud will be modelled, to augment our existing model, to record changes made, both externally and internally. 1.1.3. The data is required to be accurate to millimetric precision to create a record of the conservation work to the ship, for future generations and also to be compatible with the existing 3D model. 1.1.4. We completed our own research and also consulted with a professional survey company and we have decided that the Leica RTC360 3D laser scanner will be most suitable for our needs. 1.1.5. We have had previous 3D laser scans completed using Leica instruments and software and want all of our files to be compatible with each other. 1.1.6. We own Leica software and total stations, so we are familiar with the Leica interface. Objective 2.1. After research and consulting industry professionals, it was agreed that a Leica RTC360 3D laser scanner is required, which will meet the requirement to be able to record the data for modelling changes to the ship, as well as positioning the resulting point cloud using GPS capability. 2.2. Outright purchase of the scanner is required, with the total price given in the tender cost breakdown. Additional items may be required, if available. These additional items are also to be priced separately within the tender cost breakdown: • A programme compatible with the laser scanner, such as Leica Cyclone REGISTER full version programme; • Warranties that cover damage / replacement; • Maintenance packages that cover calibration and servicing. This work will include; • Stripping existing fittings and planking (externally and internally) • Repairs to hull frames • Producing laminated planking/large knees for external/internal for the hull • Fitting and fixing planking and large knees as well as other replacement items internally/externally • Fitting and fixing of iron work, as well as other similar fittings internally/externally to the ship. The first phase of the hull conservation project takes place in the ships midships for a minimum of 4 years before work continues to the Fore/Aft of the ship. Appendix 1 lists our preferred power tools, this has been done to meet quality standards required for the work to be carried out. Alternative tools must either meet or exceed quality of listed equipment. Completed pricing schedule (Appendix 1 - Excel) including a firm price for each listed tool in Stage 1; provisional price for Stage 2 and delivery price. Pricing schedule to also include warranty details for each tool and lead times for delivery of each tool/machine to site within Portsmouth Naval Base.

In 2017 the HMS Warrior Preservation Trust merged with the National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN), following the merger the NMRN conducted surveys of Warrior's electrical systems and identified that it requires extensive rewiring work. Previously in 2018 a tender was advertised but was not awarded following feedback from the submitted bids. The ship and its systems host a staff presence 24/7 across the whole year, with members of the public visiting during opening hours of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The ship hosts events on board throughout the year, with catering for events being supplied by the fully equipped professional kitchen on board the ship. The ship maintains numerous systems such as; a macerator, speaker, fire detection, lighting and ventilation systems alongside the public-facing role. This tender is intended to help support the current and future power requirements of the NMRN onboard HMS Warrior. The NMRN is seeking to rewire HMS Warrior to bring all electrical systems on board up to standard, this is across the ship and partially to the jetty alongside Warrior. The scope of work that suppliers will be required to replace and update includes; - Removal and replacement of the existing electrical circuits onboard including; LV/Small Power Systems - Removal of existing Fire Alarm and commissioning new Fire Alarm System (to L5 standard and L1 performance) across the ship. - Removal and Installation of a new ship-wide PA System - Removal and Updating of CCTV System - Replacement of HVAC Ventilation System Wiring and Controls - Provisions to replace and update the Mast Downlights and fittings for Seasonal Lighting (Foremast Christmas Tree lights). - Requirement to refurbish approx. 150-period accurate replica light fittings; including updating to LED lighting and rewiring to reinstall and reuse. These requirements may change in scope so this is currently indicative of at the time of writing. Full details can be found in the documentation attached to this tender. HMS Victory Timber Supply Framework ITT Overview Over the next 12 years, the National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) are leading the conservation of HMS Victory to ensure the long-term preservation of a world-class historic vessel and an exemplar of a Royal Navy capital warship from the Age of Sail. In addition to being a unique historic asset, HMS Victory continues to be a significant visitor attraction within Portsmouth Historic Dockyard whilst continuing to serve as a commissioned warship of the Royal Navy. The conservation work includes the replacement of all external and some internal planking in a staged programme; it is intended that the ship remains open to the public throughout the planned work. The work will be carried out inside an encapsulated conservation scaffold which will allow the NMRN's Shipwrights to remove and replace the hull planks. Core to the programme is the procurement of Timber, primarily Oak, to meet the planned Hull Conservation programme. In addition to planking, additional solid 'curved' timber will be needed to replace items such as knees and beams (compass timber), and the timber supplier(s) will be invited to work with the NMRN to source and produce such items. The NMRN have been engaged in dialogue with suppliers in the timber market prior to this tender notice, with a Market Engagement Day and one-to-one dialogue meetings. These sessions have been vital to engage with a collaborative approach with suppliers to meet the specifications required for the supply of timber for HMS Victory. Tenderers will be invited to submit their tender response for a Framework Agreement for initial 4 years (full details can be found in Annex C) based on three separate Lots, this can be done for individual lots or all lots. The price for this tender of £3,000,000 is the provisional budget for the first two years of this project, based on (at the time) market prices from dialogue with suppliers during the PIN Notice period. The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) wishes to appoint an exhibition designer for a colourful and engaging exhibition at Portsmouth, showcasing objects and interactives based on HMS Challenger's famous voyage of 1872-6, with linked content displayed at NMRN Hartlepool. The exhibition will also highlight the Royal Navy's continued involvement in science at sea, in the context of the Challenger legacy. The exhibition tender will comprise of Phase 1 (Design) and Phase 2 (Manage), with a break between them, the NMRN are committing to work to RIBA Stage 4 value of £28k for Phase 1. If the proposals for full costs (not exceeding £199,100) are taken forward to proceed to Phase 2 (manage - up to Riba Stage 6) we will continue with the winning bid and design for this tender. The exhibition tender will comprise of; • Phase 1 (Design- up to Riba Stage 4) Firm Price at submission. • Phase 2 (Manage up to Riba Stage 6) Detailed proposed costs at submission, then fully costed when the design is finalised. The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is seeking to appoint a supplier on a design and build contract to refresh the orientation and interpretation of the visitor centre within the John Fieldhouse building and improve the wayfinding at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum (RNSM). RNSM is located in Gosport which is situated on the western side of Portsmouth Harbour, opposite the city of Portsmouth and is linked by the Gosport ferry. The museum is located close to the former submarine base HMS Dolphin, home of the submarine service until 1999. Visitors reach the museum either by road or via the waterbus from Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The site opened as a museum in 1981 with HMS Alliance, a Second World War era submarine, as the principal exhibit. The site now also houses two other submarines. Holland 1, the Royal Navy's first submarine and the midget submarine X-24. The John Fieldhouse Building (JFB) houses the main reception and museum shop on the ground floor, as well as the museum galleries. We want to create a clear point of arrival and welcome for our visitors when they enter JFB. This welcome will be where visitors are greeted by staff who can advise and guide them on how to use the spaces on site (the galleries and the submarines), and where tactile map is available for orientation. We are keen that the visit starts at this point, giving visitors clear orientation and a stronger sense of story and place and a better understanding of the links with wider site next to the former HMS Dolphin. See Appendix 1 for photographs of the current interpretation and orientation of JFB Ground Floor Visitor Centre and Shop Area. Appendix 3 has a building floor plan of the ground floor as it was built, it does not reflect the current layout. As part of the conservation project of HMS Victory, NMRN requires the stonework of No. 2 Dock to be repaired, outside of the Phase 1 work area (see Appendix 1). The NMRN are currently progressing works on HMS Victory and large conservation scaffold has been erected over Victory's midships, with Scheduled Monument Consent, granted by Historic England in October 2020. The NMRN lease the dock, in which to hold HMS Victory and are responsible for the care of the dock. No. 2 Dock forms part of the Portsmouth Dockyard Scheduled Monument (NHLE no. 1001852). The dock is also part of the group of Docks 1 to 6 (consecutive), Grade I Listed (NHLE no.1272267). Therefore, the dock is statutorily protected and no works are permitted to commence until a specific Scheduled Monument Consent is granted. The dock was constructed between 1799-1801 to the designs of Samuel Bentham, largely constructed of course Purbeck limestone ashlar blocks, with fine Portland limestone ashlar blocks used in locations around the north end of the dock. Further details of the design can be found within the ITT in the Scope of Requirement on Page 30. The main objective is to achieve the repairs to the dock stonework within the specified areas, that will be sympathetic to the existing stonework and will be durable enough to last within a seaside environment. The total price should be given in the tender cost breakdown, to be costed against the Specifications in Appendices 3 and 4, but only for the two areas outside of the Phase 1 Work Area (see Appendix 1), plus a percentage of contingency to cover any change since it was written in 2021. The repairs should be like for like stone where possible. NMRN holds a small amount of stone purchased in 2019, but more stone will have to be ordered. The costs for the stone order should be priced separately within the tender cost breakdown. The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is seeking to appoint a design and build contractor to refresh and update the narrative / interpretation of the HMS Gallery within Storehouse 10 at the National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN), Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. On 3rd April 2014, the Babcock Galleries opened at the NMRN's Portsmouth Historic Dockyard site. The project created 'HMS' - Hear My Story exhibition, which tells the story of the 20th and 21st century Royal Navy and its people. The new galleries included a temporary exhibition space at the far end of the visitor route. The end of the gallery which tells the story of the modern navy is now 9 years old so we want the area updated and refreshed in line with the NMRN interpretation strategy and the NMRN Master Narrative. This gallery should bring the story of the Royal Navy up to date and be able to be updated so that it is always current. The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is seeking to appoint a suitably skilled and experienced contractor to carry out a regular cleaning contract at its HMS Caroline site in Belfast's historic shipyard. HMS Caroline is a World War One battleship and the last survivor of the famous Battle of Jutland. HMS Caroline was also in-service during World War Two and has been a feature of Belfast's waterfront since 1924. The ship has been open to the public as a museum and heritage attraction since 2016. The winning bidder will initially be tasked with a deep clean of both the Pumphouse Building and HMS Caroline to provide a clean environment for the museums collection team to handle historic material in the space. Similarly, HMS Caroline will require deep cleaning in preparation for opening to the public, which will be assisted by the NMRN team at HMS Caroline for access on board. The NMRN are seeking the provision of IT Support Services with anticipated engagement commencing from Saturday 1st April 2023. The National Museum is reviewing its supply arrangements to ensure that it is aware of what the market currently has to offer and is in a position to select a supplier that is best able to deliver the National Museum's requirements over the next 3 - 5 years. The winning bidder of this tender will be expected to takeover from Saturday 1st April 2023 to prevent loss of service.
