Swansea University and Swansea Council (the Partners) are committed to working in partnership for the future development of the Swansea Bay Sports Park (SBSP) at Sketty Lane, Ashleigh Road and King George V fields which includes the Wales National Pool (WNPS).
The Partners hold a joint strategic vision of creating an internationally renowned destination for sport that is managed and operated via a single entity and which is available to enhance the opportunities for community sport, performance sport, the University Clubs and Schools/Colleges.
The management of the SBSP is subject to a number of different arrangements where facilities are managed either by the University or the Council or in the case of the WNPS through a joint arrangement. The current WNPS arrangements are due to end in December 2023 (however discussions are in place to extend this to March 2024), and the Partners are keen to establish new management arrangements which deliver on the vision above.
As a result the Partners are undertaking a market engagement exercise to help shape the future delivery of the SBSP and would like to invite interested parties to participate in the market engagement as a precursor to any formal procurement. The attached documents provide further background and in particular the Partners are hosting a market engagement day on Wednesday 21 June (10am – 2pm) to enable interested parties to find out more about the vision and the market engagement.
If you are interested in attending (maximum of 2 people per organisation) please email Dan Pearce at D.A.Pearce@Swansea.ac.uk to book places at the event.
