Swansea University and Swansea Council are committed to working in partnership to provide the infrastructure for the future with a specific focus on the development at Sketty Lane, Ashleigh Road and King George V fields, known as Swansea Bay Sports Park (SBSP).
In order to maximise impact and capitalise on the unique positioning of the site and the relationship between the University and its partners, our vision extends to co-location of sport, health, medical science and technology alongside the facilities to promote in-situ research and innovation.
The approach aligns with and builds upon the catalytic, City Deal funded, ‘Campuses project’, which sees a phase one delivery of 2000sqm research & innovation space at SBSP, with an aim to harness the unique capabilities in the Swansea Bay City Region to drive the growth of a globally significant MedTech and Sports Tech cluster, facilitating the levelling up of the health and wealth of the region and making Swansea a Life Sciences powerhouse.
This project is centred on the commissioning and delivery of a feasibility study and options appraisal that will lay the foundations for a major collaborative investment programme over the next decade, by providing critical insight, early appraisal of options and a practical roadmap along which the partnership can progress.
The primary focus of the work will relate to SBSP – as defined above – but will also consider opportunities for alignment and cohesion with other facilities and developments in the local area. This may include including linkages with St Helens, Singleton Hospital, Singleton Park, Bishop Gore School, Clyne Valley and the Promenade - the will see SBSP emerge as a Hub for community sport and activity, from which the local community and visitors can enjoy the full breadth of aligned offer.
Working in this way ensure we do not miss clear opportunities for economies and to ensure a cohesive strategy for the Region.
Swansea University is currently undergoing a major investment in its technical
infrastructure. The university is seeking a Managed Security Operations Centre
(mSOC)as part of its strategic initiative to build strong proactive measures 24/7 to
prevent, detect and quickly respond to security incidents, cyber threats and risks.
An mSOC will provide advanced threat detection and response capabilities, help
the University meet compliance requirements, and provide a cost-effective
solution for managing security operations. Additionally, an mSOC will assist in
incident response planning, further enhancing the University's security posture.
The University has allocated a budget of approximately 170,000.00 GBP annually,
excluding VAT, for this service. The contract will be for an initial 2 years with an
option to extend for a further 2 years on an annual basis (1+1).
This Tender has now been awarded for the supply and installation of a Transmission Electron Microscopy at Swansea University. It is of strategic importance in expanding the measurement capabilities that the University provides, and reliability of the equipment is paramount to maintaining and supporting the wide array of experimental work conducted within the facility. The instrument was intended to be easily operated by PhD students after a short training.
As such Swansea University requires a single furniture supplier to supply and install On-Campus Furniture for offices and office style spaces, including for classroom, catering, library teaching, breakout, hybrid use and any other spaces on campus via Lot 2a of Sustainable Furniture Solutions FFE2008 NE. The initial contract term is 2 years, with the option to extend by 1 further year (2+1).
