The current Stonewater website was launched to mark the formation of Stonewater in 2015. A number of continuous improvements have been made to the site since its launch, including redesigning the home page and other key areas of the site, improving and simplifying the navigation to enhance the customer experience, the addition of Browsealoud (accessibility software), and a full audit and implementation of measures to meet new accessibility legislation. However, we have not undertaken any significant development work during this time.
The website caters for a variety of stakeholders providing customer and corporate related information, and, as such, we need to make the user journey as clear as possible so that people can find what they are looking for quickly and easily.
As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, our website and its supporting sites have become more important than ever as a key channel for Stonewater customers and stakeholders. Therefore, Stonewater require a unique newly developed website with a fresh look and feel, which focuses on putting the customer at the heart of what we do as an organisation, showcases our thought leadership programme and other key corporate information, and positions us as an employer of choice.

The procurement of a national framework of Employers Agents to support a large variety of construction projects, helping Stonewater's to achieve their ambition of delivering 1500 homes a year to people who require them the most.
Stonewater, working in partnership with our network of funding partners, have taken advantage of recent rules as set out by the Government and regulated by the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (OFGEM) to reduce fuel poverty across the UKs housing stock and to deliver a net-zero future for all.
The Fuel Poor Network Extension Scheme (FPNES) was first introduced in April 2016 to support the 20% of UK homes located within the Government's Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD). The scheme was delivered by the Gas Distribution Networks (GDNs) and Independent Gas Transporters (IGTs) in partnership with other partner organisations to help cover the costs of connecting off-grid, fuel poor households to the UKs gas network.
The Energy Company Obligation scheme (ECO) was first introduced in 2013 with the Government setting energy suppliers strict targets to support fuel poor households to find more affordable ways to heat their homes.
Both schemes were Government implemented and regulated by OFGEM to ensure that fuel poor households were provided with a real alternative to their existing inefficient heating provision which had previously been restricted to a single source of energy.
Following a programme of stock condition profiling of its housing stock, Stonewater quickly identified those assets that satisfied the strict qualification criteria for each funding scheme. The main objective being to identify all assets within its portfolio that were currently heated by aged and inefficient electric night storage heaters and electrically heated hot water storage systems, in addition to other qualifying measures.
Under existing scheme rules for either one or both funding opportunities, Welbeck and Bentinck Street in Sutton-in -Ashfield was selected as the first scheme to take advantage of this Government backed initiative to achieve these goals.
With 30 fully funded gas connections now installed under IMD rules and ECO3 funding secured for qualifying assets, Stonewater are now looking to implement a programme of First Time Central Heating (FTCH) installations to maximise the amount of financial support currently available thorough each scheme. These systems will include innovative design characteristics to maximise efficiency to further reduce operating costs and carbon emissions.
The above overview supports Stonewater's key strategic sustainability plan to provide its customers with affordable forms of heating to end fuel poverty and to support the Government's future net-zero ambitions.

Stonewater was seeking a contractor to support the build of a new development at its Swarcliffe Avenue site. The scheme comprises 33 units, based on the following schedule of accommodation: •2B3P Bungalow @80m2 - 01no. •2B4P 2 storey house @79m2 - 12no. •2B4P 2 storey house@ 81m2 - 03no. •3B5P 2 storey house @93m2 - 17no. The proposed development is located on the former St Gregory's Primary School site off Swarcliffe Avenue and Stanks Gardens. The site was generally recorded as open land until the construction of the primary school in the 1980's, which was later demolished in 2019. The main site, accessed off Stanks Gardens is approximately 0.91 hectares and is bound by residential properties to the North West boundary and local Community centre to the East West boundary. 2 plots are to be located off Swarcliffe Avenue in between existing dwelling and substation. The site was purchased from Leeds City Council and planning permission has been granted and received.
The site was acquired by Stonewater Developments Limited (the development arm of Stonewater Limited) in March 2021 with the aim of constructing the new homes using modular form of construction and the apartments in a traditional form of construction. The site was initially contracted to a different provider, to be delivered as a modular build. The site clearance works, substructure and installation of the 114no modular houses, the structures, external walls and pre-cast concrete planks to the intermediate floors and roof of the traditional constructed apartment block and the site infrastructure works have progressed.
Works were initially delayed due to design and buildability issues with the proposed modular flat roofs. This resulted in a planning non-material amendment being obtained revising the design to traditional pitch roofs. These works have commenced. However, the main contractor entered into Administration on 12th June 2023 and the build contract has been terminated.
