Greater Cambridge Shared Planning [GCSP] have been awarded funding by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities [DLUHC] to improve efficiency in reviewing representations from Local Plans. Part of the proposal is to investigate the opportunities for AI to be deployed to summarise responses to the Local Plan. If successful, this tool would be incorporated into the existing web-based consultation tool, Opus Consult. GCSP are seeking assistance to develop a prototype to explore the efficacy and applicability of such tools. Within this work, a thorough exploration of ethical considerations regarding the implementation of AI-based tools for the processing of Local Plan responses should be included. We envisage this work will include the following stages: 1. Data Discovery: Understanding the current approach 2. Evaluation of Data 3. Design and test tool 4. Second round of development and testing 5. Exploration of ethical considerations 6. Final Review The tool needs to be GDPR compliant and a GDPR impact assessment needs to be undertaken.
