The Council is looking to recommission the care and support services for two established Extra Care Housing schemes: Northampton Place and The Pines. These schemes are designed to meet the needs of older adults who may otherwise look to move into a residential setting but prefer the independence and flexibility of supported living within an Extra Care environment. A new contract will commence on 1 August 2026.
The Extra Care schemes cater to individuals aged 55 and over, including those with physical, mental, or learning disabilities, frailty, or dementia. Together, the two schemes comprise 126 properties, providing a safe and supportive setting for residents with assessed care needs.
The commissioned service will deliver 24/7 on-site care and support, ensuring immediate response to urgent care requirements. This integrated approach enables residents to maintain independence and continue living in their own homes, reducing the need on residential care placements. This model aligns with the Council’s strategic vision to promote quality, person-centred care and enhance wellbeing within the community.
Key Objectives
• Deliver high-quality, integrated care and support within Extra Care settings.
• Promote independence and dignity for older adults with varying care needs.
