Maintenance of the Detained Property System

Provision of Gas Monitors and Associated Equipment. Single-gas Oxygen (O²) detectors are an integral part of CBRN protection capability. The detectors are used by responders as a defensive detection and monitoring device to enable safe systems of work. A total of 2000 O² Gas Monitors are required operationally.

The service will maximise the opportunities to engage people who are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol, in contact with the police, with treatment and other support services and will complement existing services.

New Chance is an intervention for women over 18 years, intended to divert them away from entering further into the criminal justice system. West Midlands Police are the single referring agency into the service and make referrals primarily through Out of Court Resolutions but may also make voluntary referrals where appropriate. The New Chance service aims to: - Divert women from the formal criminal justice process by providing an effective community-based alternative to prosecution or conviction and potential short custodial sentences.  - Address underlying and root issues contributing to offending behaviour, including but not limited to substance use, mental health, housing instability, domestic abuse and socio-economic factors, through support tailored to an individual woman’s needs.   - Provide trauma- and gender-responsive support that recognises and meets the specific needs of women in the criminal justice system, considering their individual experiences.  - Improve community safety by promoting rehabilitation, reducing re-offending rates and improving women’s outcomes e.g. education, training and employment and family relationships. Achieved through empowering women to lead safe and healthy lives.   - Work collaboratively with statutory and non-statutory community-based partners to ensure a coordinated multi-disciplinary approach that leverages local knowledge and resources to achieve the best outcomes for women.

Provision of security and guarding services

VR VAWG Empathy Training directly responds to the Police Violence Against Women & Girls for empathy building within staff training. To be delivered in person to new recruits at WMP's training centre.

The requirement is for approximately 3,420 waste bins of various types, and sizes for a variety of purposes, such as the collection of food waste, recycling and general waste, these waste bins will be placed across the whole of WMP estate

The Authority has a requirement for 6 new forensic comparison microscopes for ballistic analysis. The microscopes are the main equipment used by ballistic experts providing fast time intelligence for the national service. Full service support for both the new systems and the old Leica FSC systems. This must be carried out by current Leica service engineers.
