Northumberland National Park Authority are currently out to tender for the Renewal of the Sewage Treatment Plant at Walltown Country Park. Walltown Country Park attracts approximately 55,000 visitors per annum, with an expectation this will increase over the next five years due to site improvements. The National Park Visitor Centre was refurbished in 2019 . This refurbishment provided a new Changing Places washroom, re-configured the public toilets, and created an internal seating/refreshment area. The existing Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) that serves the Visitor Centre has been in operation for circa 25 years. The STP has now reached the end of its functional life.
