The National Gallery's Conservation Dossiers are contained in a series of stapled cardboard 'volumes', (mostly) comprising 12 sheets stapled or sewn to make up 24 pages; the pages are a little over A3 in size (44.5cm x 34.5cm).
This tender is for the digitisation and delivery of c.3,250 volumes, and c.2,550 envelopes.
The Gallery wishes to digitise the Conservation Dossiers in a way that enables us to:
1. Use the digital images internally, instead of the paper versions.
2. Extract (from the file name and the meta data in the digitised pages) all the information we would need to easily identify these files in our DAMS.
Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.

Following our 200th anniversary celebrations, we are launching a landmark architectural competition for the design of a transformative new wing and public realm.
Our ambition is to create an architecturally distinguished, sustainable, and state-of-the-art new wing and public space.
The new wing will be built on the last remaining part of the National Gallery campus: St Vincent House. The property was acquired nearly 30 years ago, for the purpose of expanding gallery space, and currently houses a hotel and office complex.
The project aims to invigorate this corner of central London, connecting Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square. Embedding the Gallery as a cornerstone within London's arts quarter, it will also cement our reputation as a leader in the art world and the UK's commitment to culture and heritage.
The purpose of this competition is to find exceptional architects to take on the extraordinary responsibility that designing this new wing will entail. The selection of an architectural team will take place in two stages:
Stage 1: An open call for expressions of interest from architects that believe they meet the criteria specified in the competition brief.
Stage 2: Up to six architects will be shortlisted and will be asked to expand on how they might approach this specific project.
Transportation of fine art and other objects with the collections or borrowed from other lenders for the National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, Historic Royal Palaces and the Wallace Collection. Other major museums and galleries may choose to use the framework.
The purpose of this project is to create a connection between the Sainsbury Wing and Wilkins Building and transforming an existing space into a modern, functional research facility designed for both staff and public use.
The works are divided into two distinct contracts:
Structural Works Package - covering structural and excavation works.
Fitout Works Package - covering the fit-out and completion of the facility.
This Tender relates specifically to the Excavation and Structural Works portion of the project.
The anticipated scope of works includes:
-Demolition and strip out
-Excavation including archaeological investigation
-Structural works including underpinning and structural opening
-Lift installation works
-Civil construction works
Mobilisation is to start 27 April 2026
Work on site will commence 12 May 2026
Contract completion date is an estimate, to be agreed with the contractor.
