NGUK issued a contract notice with publication reference 2023/S 000-035470 on 1 December 2023, with a view to establishing a multi-year, multi-supplier framework enabling the procurement of high voltage direct current (HVDC) converter projects which include:
(i) the supply and installation of converter systems including design, manufacture, installation, and testing of HVDC converter station technology and equipment, which may include front-end engineering design services in relation to any or all of the same;
(ii) turnkey solution including civils and major works; and
(iii) maintenance services
National Grid needs has adopted a more sophisticated approach to the management of risk registers, schedule and cost risk simulations and analysis to avoid missing project deadlines and has thus purchased a Risk Management SaaS package that will be used for the management of risks relating to construction projects.
There is a need to move from a project to programmatic risk management approach: To meet the target of delivering 50 GW by 2030, Strategic Infrastructure will need to manage 17-20 onshore projects, and up to a total of 30 projects across both onshore and offshore. To minimize the potential impact of project 'risk silos, SI will adopt a programmatic approach to the management of risks.
