The Authority is seeking proposals from Contractors to refurbish Kennington All Weather Pitch. Lot 1 consists of the removal, disposal and full resurfacing of the turf as well as a number of additional works that the Authority will reserve the right to instruct the Contractor to complete if required. SC1 is seeking an advisor to understand the potential scale and scope for employment, skills, and enterprise delivery, as well as considering how life sciences employers can be supported to deliver employment & skills opportunities, including apprenticeships, paid internships, work experience, self-employment and youth and schools' engagement.
Research should build upon existing foundational research and strategy development that has been produced at a national level, including from the Science Industry Partnership, and support the creation of a localised approach through SC1 which will meet the needs of local communities.
Acknowledging that this piece of research is broad in scope, requiring from an advisor a sound understanding of both the life sciences sector specifically and employment, skills, and enterprise delivery more broadly, SC1 is open to a partnership between organisations with complementary knowledge and expertise. This can be discussed further upon receipt of a proposal.
The research output will help inform the development of an employment and skills strategy and delivery model for SC1, which at a high level will seek to:
• Create a wide range of life sciences jobs, and those associated through development, etc.
• Widen participation enabling new recruits to enter the sector, either as young people following a Life Sciences career path through their learning, as older people who will require training to enter the sector, or through self-employment opportunities
• Align to and complement strategies promoting routes into wider health and research sector jobs

The training should target Year 1 and Year 2 students for scooter training and Year 3 and Year 4 for pedestrian training. The provider will be in charge of contacting and booking training with schools. The training package should include booking training with the schools; providing required documentation (including risk assessments, parental consent etc.) and providing DBS checked staff members.

Proposals are to provide suitable Wayfinding and Health and
Safety signage solutions to support the delivery of the resetting
and appearance of the workspace in the Lambeth's Civic Centre,

Context:
As the Voluntary & Community Sector emerges from the pandemic, it is increasingly called upon to provide support for residents and communities most affected by the ongoing cost of living crisis. To continue delivery of quality services and to address newer challenges, the Council recognises the VCS itself needs essential infrastructure support. These services are geared to support and sustain VCS groups that delivery services to Lambeth residents.
The current VCS support contract with Integrate Agency CIC comes to an end in April 2024 and the Council will be retendering for new service provision. We want to understand from Lambeth's VCS what support needs should look like to meet future challenges. With the VCS, the Council wants to identify what and how we provide support and resources that will add value to the work of the VCS, and importantly strengthen delivery of shared partnership goals i.e. Lambeth 2030 Borough Plan and VCS Strategy. To this end, it is important to capture insights from those in the VCS that will serve to inform the wider consultation and engagement with other non-VCS stakeholders including the NHS and the funding community.
Requirements:
Lambeth Councils aims to commission a series of independently facilitated focus groups with the VCS that will provide information, data and insights into the needs of the voluntary and community sector. The purpose of these focus groups is to identify potential strategies to support quality service delivery, growth, innovation and sustainability of the VCS in Lambeth.
To achieve this, the researchers will organise and facilitate focus groups:-

The cross-government Beating Crime Plan has made available grant funding to establish SAFE Taskforces in 10 serious violence hotspots across the country. SAFE is an acronym for Support, Attend, Fulfil, Exceed.
Lambeth SAFE Taskforce is a schools led strategic board bringing together schools, the Local Authority, and partners to commission evidence-informed interventions to Support young people with challenging behaviour, enabling them to Attend school regularly so they can Fulfil their potential and prevent costly poor life outcomes by inspiring them to Exceed their expectation.
Lambeth SAFE taskforce are looking to procure two pilot interventions: a Primary School Transition Programme and a Mentoring Service.
• The Mentoring Service will offer support to children aged 10-14, at risk of disrupted education
• The Primary School Transition Programme will offer support to children who have been identified as requiring additional support to make a successful transition from Year 6 to Year 7

Lambeth Town Hall is situated in the heart of Brixton, is a Grade II Edwardian building which underwent extensive renovation which was completed in 2018. opened over a century ago in 1908. The building is spread over 4-floors inclusive of a basement.
A Fire Detection and Alarm System was installed to the development that enables automatic and manual detection of a fire such that safe evacuation of the building. The system is operated by a main panel in the Building Management System (BMS) Room, a further repeater panel is located in the reception area on the ground floor.
Additionally, the building has been provided with a Disabled Refuge/Disabled WC Alarm Call System. The system provides a secure means of communication from each of the designated refuge areas located throughout the building to the ground floor reception. A remote buzzer/indicator is also provided at the Reception.
Events necessitate improvements to the fire sire strategy of the building which is proposed to be the new PAVA system.
