IWM is looking for a disability consultant to create training materials for c.40 digital volunteers on our Accessible Pasts, Equitable Futures project. The consultant will work with the project lead to identify possible training opportunities and ways of creating accessible training for remote volunteers. The goal of this part of the project is to trial using digital volunteers to create accessibility information about a collection of 200 digital museum items. This tender is going out to ask a company/individual to create training materials for volunteers who will produce alt-text, long description, transcription, audio description, and other narrative descriptions of IWM collections. We will be using Zooniverse as a platform for this trial, although we are currently planning to keep the trial private, only using IWM volunteers. This is a funded project with a budget range of between £11k-£13k (inc. VAT). IWM is seeking a piece of research to undertake a summative evaluation of the War and the Mind exhibition that will aim to measure whether the exhibition's key messages and learning outcomes have been met and to what extent. The War and the Mind exhibition is intended to challenge visitors to rethink war through a psychological prism. Wars are not simply a quest to physically destroy or protect. They are fought within and for our minds. The evaluation should measure the extent to which visitors agree with the exhibition's social impact framework and what their experience has been like prior to their visit and afterwards. We would also like to explore how the exhibition's interpretative methodologies were received by visitors.

Imperial War Museums ("IWM") are tendering for a museum showcase supplier to work with us over the next three years to design, produce, deliver and install display showcases for use across IWM branches. Training is also to be provided for the installation and demounting of the showcases. All display cases must fully meet the specification as detailed in the sections below of IWM's 'Display Case Specification: Collections Management Standards' which is included in the tender documents. Imperial War Museums are tendering for a museum showcase supplier to design, produce, deliver and install three permanent, free standing showcases for use in the upcoming Second World War Immersive Space: Crew Room exhibition at IWM Duxford. Imperial War Museums ("IWM") invites tenders from suitably qualified contractors to undertake the Design & Build of a new Fire Engine Shed at IWM Duxford, adjacent to the existing Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower. The facility will serve as a modern operational hub for fire response, equipment storage, and personnel readiness. The design must be utilitarian and robust, with low maintenance requirements, while incorporating heritage-style features and a colour palette that complements surrounding historic buildings. The structure will be compact yet fully functional, delivering cost-effective value in line with public sector expectations. The shed must not obstruct sightlines from the Visual Control Room, nor exceed the height or footprint of the ATC Tower. A physical separation between the new building and the tower is required for operational and fire safety compliance. Internally, the shed will house three fire vehicles with appropriate spacing, automatic emergency doors, exhaust extraction, and durable flooring. It will also include storage for fire PPE, relocated washing machines, breathing apparatus equipment, and other essential services. Support facilities will comprise a breathing apparatus room with water supply, workbench, and extraction systems; decontamination showers with changing areas and lockers; a changing room with heating, filtration, and drying provisions; and a washing machine room with drying space and ventilation. A watch room will provide CCTV coverage of movement areas.
