Forest Research is seeking costed proposals for carrying out research into young people's socio-cultural values in relation to Trees outside Woodland and landscape change, in accordance with the attached Request for Quotation. As part of a Defra-funded project ('Understanding the public value of Trees outside Woodlands: Peri-Urban and Rural (ToWPUR) - Forest Research'), we are seeking to procure research that addresses the following research questions: • How do young people experience and care for Trees Outside Woodland that are part of a specific peri-urban or rural landscape? • What values do young people hold around these ToWPUR? • What can we learn about how these values have formed including the key influences on value formation? • How are these values activated and negotiated in discussions around landscape change, for example, the loss (whether by felling or by encapsulation through tree planting at scale) or addition of ToWPUR? The required outputs would include a summary report, including an account of the methodology, findings and recommendations tailored for a (non-social scientist) policy and practice audience, as well as a video dissemination for a general audience. Forest Research (FR) is seeking quotations to carry out field survey work in accordance with the attached Invitation to Tender. The work involves visiting and surveying trees within up to 200 randomly-distributed circular sample plots for the i-Tree Eco Portsmouth project. Plot locations are provided by FR. Methodology is be standard i-Tree Eco methodology plus four additional metrics specified by FR. Some training will be provided. FR is delivering this i-Tree Eco project for Portsmouth City Council. The work requires use of the i-Tree Eco App and the i-Tree Eco survey methodology (v6). The scope of supply includes all design, fabrication, supply, pre-assembly, fitting out, transport to site, off-loading, siting, post-assembly, connection and commissioning. The groundworks and/or any foundations required for siting of the units will be provided by Forest Research (to the specification of the supplier). But scope of supply includes any fabricated items, equipment or structures (such as pads, legs, frame) required for siting the unit on the pre-prepared base.
