The work involves visiting and surveying trees and shrubs within 200 randomly-distributed circular sample plots (11.35 m radius) for the Wirral i-Tree Eco project.
Plot locations are provided by FR. Methodology is be standard i-Tree Eco methodology plus five additional metrics specified by FR. Training will be provided.
FR is delivering this i-Tree Eco project for Wirral Borough Council.
The work requires use of the i-Tree Eco App and the i-Tree Eco survey methodology (v6).

Forestry England have awarded a contract for the replacement of a roof covering at a property in the North England Forest District. The requirement includes the removal of the asbestos roof covering, extending the rafters, replacement of defective blockwork, installation of new eaves detail, and installation of the new roof covering.
Forest Research is seeking tenders for the carrying out of a production survey in the North of West England Forest District in accordance with the attached ITT document.
Production survey plots will be established using one of the following two methods and based on the Forest Mensuration handbook 2006, the Forestry Commission Field Guide for Timber Measurement 2008 and the Forestry Commission Survey Handbook, 3rd edition 2007.
The two options for data collection available for this contract are
Method 1 - by tape and paper documentation and / or direct input into the FC Tariff App,
Method 2 - electronic callipers downloaded into the FC Tariff App.
Both methods will include:
- Possible sub-compartment stratification
- Plot navigation, numbering, recording grid reference and size choice - - circular plots will always be used of the same size.
- Data collection to include:
> Species
> DBH
> Planting year
> Top height
> Possible A4 or A5 tariff details
> Specific comments about tree health, form regeneration coverage % by species
- Data processing to include:
> For method 1 - input data directly into the FC Tariff App
> For method 2 - downloading callipers into the FC Tariff App
- Data presentation will include:
