The Radiology Information System (RIS) is a key clinical component in the delivery of care and diagnostics in DBTH NHS FT.
The medical imaging department's current Radiology Information System (RIS) contract expires in August 2024 with support being offered by the current company altering to critical only from January 2024.
The requirement is for a replacement RIS system which must be deployed and live for use before August 2024, with appropriate data migration having been completed ensuring that patient pathways and historic information continues to be available. The new RIS system must connect to the Trust's existing PACS solution, which will not be replaced as part of this tender process. It is key that the current level of functionality is not reduced and any deployment must enhance the way the radiology department functions.

The provision of insourced MRI scanning service for 8 days per month undertaken at Bassetlaw District General Hospital, situated within the Medical Imaging department, in accordance with the service specification.
Additional information:
We direct awarded to Managed Healthcare Services via the Staff Alliance framework for insourcing services last year for 6 months with the option to extend. However the contract expired at the March 2024 so extension is no longer possible. The trust requires this direct award as soon as possible as the MRI score are becoming impacted.
MHS are able to use the Trust fixed asset (at BDGH) whereas Medneo (the previous incumbents) are only able to provide a mobile staffed unit.
Locums are more expensive and unreliable than AQP
The Trust had a previous contract with MHS to aid the 2022-23 Radiology recovery plan, which worked very well.

1. Population Needs
National/local context and evidence base
The creation of Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC's) was recommended following Professor Sir Mike Richards' Review of NHS diagnostics capacity. The recommendation was that NHS organisations across England move to providing diagnostic services in CDC's and all health systems are expected to include a network of CDC's as part of their health services offer.
In 2021, Mexborough Montagu Hospital (MMH) was selected to host one of a pair of CDC's within South Yorkshire, following a £3 million investment from the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Integrated Care System. In November 2023 phase 2 of the CDC opened in MMH providing a fully functional endoscopy suite, with training facilities and multifunctional clinic rooms including ultrasound facilities. Once completed, in late 2024/early 2025, the CDC will also provide Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging facilities.
This service specification relates to the provision of the Non-Obstetric Ultrasound (NOUS) element of the CDC imaging service only.

Acceptable exceptions will include patient refusals, DNAs and patient choice.
