Derry City and Strabane District Council, as Lead Council of the Northern Ireland Electric Vehicle (EV) Consortium, is issuing this Invitation to Tender ("ITT") as an Open Tender exercise. This invitation to tender is to appoint a single supplier to initially supply, deliver, connect, commission, maintain and operate a minimum of 127 22kW Dual electric vehicle chargers, in residential areas within 9 of the Northern Ireland councils – as part of the consortium’s first ORCS (OnStreet Residential Chargepoint Scheme) project. The consortium reserves the right to amend the number of chargepoints should circumstances require this. This tender is being led by Derry City and Strabane District Council, as the Lead Council of the NI EV (Electric Vehicle) Consortium, and is being procured on behalf of the following councils in Northern Ireland: Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, Ards and North Down Borough Council, Armagh City Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council, Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Mid Ulster District Council and Newry Mourne and Down District Council. The Contract is for the design, manufacture and installation of purpose made museum-grade artefact and archive mounts for galleries in the Derry Londonderry on the North Atlantic (DNA) Museum. The new DNA Museum will deliver a world-class attraction and resource to exhibit, explain and explore the rich, unique and fascinating history of Derry Londonderry, Strabane and the wider Foyle basin. The proposal includes the re-use of two Grade B2 listed buildings, set within the historic ‘star fort’ wall of Ebrington Square, on the east bank of the Foyle River. The site itself is historically significant both to the city and arguably the whole of Northern Ireland, with links to the Siege of Derry. The Museum will exhibit collections on the history of the city and district and provide dedicated research facilities for the internationally significant archive, which tells the story of how the city and district has contributed globally to significant historic events. There is the requirement for a qualified artefact mount maker with specialist Museum and Heritage or Visitor Attraction experience and technical knowledge to design, manufacture, deliver, assemble and position all mounts and plinths within the display cases for the DNA Museum project, which meet accredited museum standards in terms of conservation and security. The main area of work is concentrated within the DNA Museum galleries within the former barracks in Ebrington. All objects earmarked for the cases will require new mounts and method of display. While most cases will require fixed mounting at either the base or rear, a small number will call for a more creative approach – such as suspending artefacts, particularly those of special significance, within the display cases. The project is for the provision of a contractor to undertake Strabane Public Realm Scheme. The scheme will include a number of streets within the town centre boundary as noted below. The proposed works will include high quality paving, kerbing in natural stone and carriageway realignment and resurfacing. Other works include earthworks, demolition, drainage and the supply and installation of street lighting, utility diversions, signage, street furniture and soft landscaping. The project will be delivered in a busy town centre environment with restricted streets and footpath widths. Extreme care will have to be taken at all stages of the works to minimise disruption to businesses and maintain the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicular traffic flows through the town centre by the appropriate use of temporary traffic and pedestrian management. The project seeks to improve the quality and usability of a number of important streets, structures and spaces to make the areas more attractive to town centre users and provide a unique sense of place. Strabane public realm is a large project across a busy town centre and multiple spaces with restricted streets and footpath widths. Derry and Strabane District Council (DCSDC) invites proposals from suitably qualified organisations to illuminate the ships and vessels procured for 3 nights of the 2026 Foyle Maritime Festival which will take place from Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th June next year. Applauded for its ambitious and dynamic programme of events both on and off the water, the award-winning festival is located alongside the River Foyle in the heart of Derry city, spanning 1.5 miles along the riverfront. A range of themed zones and performance spaces are located throughout, all set to a magical backdrop of live music, animation, markets, visiting ships and boats, fantastic food and bespoke keynote events. Renowned as one of the largest maritime events to occur in Ireland and the UK, this bi-annual event attracted approximately 135,000 attendees when it last occurred for 4 days in 2024, appealing to local, regional, national and international visitors. For 2026 Council are extending the spectacle and magic created by former festival showcases by delivering a light installation over 3 nights of the festival from 9pm until dawn. Entitled ‘Sails of Solas’, the illumination of the tall masts and sails of the ships procured for the festival, will create a striking display of light and reflection along the riverfront. The bespoke illumination of the boats will present them in a new light emphasising their grandeur and majesty while the timing of the display invites people to revel in a private viewing as the city and ships sleep.
