A well-priced offer of hot and cold beverages, sandwiches, pastries, and snacks, plays a vital role in supporting students on campus, particularly at a time when cost-of-living pressures are having a real impact on daily choices. The University has therefore taken a deliberate decision to remove the main financial barriers to entry for the operator. By covering fixed costs such as rent, rates, and utilities, and by fully equipping the coffee shop DMU is enabling a food business to trade successfully from day one with very limited capital investment required. The University expects to see this reflected in accessible pricing and menu choice which will result in strong participation during term time. The typical student demographic on the Leicester campus consists largely of commuter and first-generation students, with a strong sensitivity to price and value. Academic and a core group of professional service staff work on campus throughout the week, with some professional services staff adopting a hybrid approach, with a minimum of two days per week on campus.

De Montfort University wishes to undertake a market engagement exercise in relation to a future potential Replacement Student E-Induction Solution. The University requires a digital peer to peer engagement platform for which this Invitation to Tender (ITT) is issued. Peer to peer engagement between current De Montfort University students and potential incoming students is an important element of the student recruitment journey. These interactions are face to face (at events, in schools and colleges etc.), via the telephone (outgoing telemarketing campaigns) and increasingly via numerous digital platforms. The business need is for these interactions to be as personalised as possible and to give potential students an opportunity to choose when they have the conversation and, importantly, who they have the conversation with. The platform we require must be able to integrate with our website (the hub of our digital engagement). It must be able to host a range of De Montfort University profiles to allow that element of choice for the potential student (they may choose to engage via nationality, course, gender, interest or a combination of these factors). It must offer a user-friendly interface for the potential student, usable via pc, laptop, tablet or mobile phone. The university is delivering a programme of support to the Gambian Technical Training Institute (GTTI) as it transforms into the University of Science, Engineering, and Technology (USET) in the Gambia. The Gambia USET project is a World Bank funded project that DMU is contracted to deliver. It is a time-bound project with specific objectives, milestones and deliverables. The nature of the workstreams are such that different amounts of time input are required at different stages of the project, therefore not lending itself to recruitment of a fixed term, fixed hours appointment.
