The Department of Health & Social Care (DHSC) invites all dental practices in England to take part in a survey that seeks to improve the Government’s insights on dental costs and the pressures involved in running a dental practice. This will support the Government’s ambitions on dental reform. Important information: • The survey closes at midday on 16 June 2025. • All responses will be received anonymously (unless you choose to identify yourself). • This research is being conducted by the Sector Insights & Commercial Strategy Team within DHSC, independently of policy teams. All responses will remain confidential to a small team of commercial and analytical colleagues in DHSC. Responses will be analysed in aggregate, and will not be shared at the individual, practice or company level; only anonymous, aggregated findings will be shared more broadly. • We plan to publish the analysis from the research publicly on GOV.UK following the conclusion of this project. • This work is separate from NHS England's Dental Workforce Survey. • Community dentistry is not in scope. • This is not a procurement. Instructions To complete the survey, please: 1. Download the Excel spreadsheet from the following link: https://atamis-1928.my.salesforce.com/sfc/p/0O000000rwim/a/Sr000000q31p/cy_kLXOdlxgF8fXqXOWApASlIKjrIS4.1mTMR3toO5A 2. Read the instructions on the first sheet carefully and complete the spreadsheet. We understand it may take a few hours to complete, but this may be quicker if you have access to the necessary information from your dental practice management system and practice accounts. 3. Once finished, please upload the spreadsheet to the Dropbox here: https://www.dropbox.com/request/uH6l5NTL1BEUiezrwv2J 4. All responses should represent information at the practice level. If you are part of a corporate group, you can choose to complete the survey locally as a practice or send it on to HQ to be completed centrally. A separate response will need to be submitted for each practice responding. Please ensure that duplicate submissions are not made for the same practice. Alongside the survey, DHSC is also conducting interviews to build additional qualitative analysis. If you would be willing to be interviewed in addition to completing the survey, please contact dentistrycostsurvey@dhsc.gov.uk to register your interest. DHSC (Department of Health) and OLS (Office for Life Sciences) is seeking to commission a supplier that will conduct a research project to understand the clinical impact of liquid biopsy tests on the early diagnosis of cancer in symptomatic patients presenting with abdominal symptoms in primary care. We anticipate that delivery will require a tripartite consortium comprising an independent evaluator and a liquid biopsy provider, with the capability to identify, establish, and manage engagement with point-of-care settings (NHS) for patient recruitment and participation. The Office for Life Sciences seeks to run a market engagement to assess the number of liquid biopsy providers with diagnostic tests at a later stage of development, with published evidence of efficacy in patients with suspected cancer symptoms. This research project would act as a use case for the OLS’ Cancer Healthcare Goals programme when developing future funding competitions which aim to address a market failure in the evaluation of cancer diagnostic and therapeutic technologies in the latter stages of development. This initial market questionnaire aims to, at a high level, understand the scale, knowledge and capability of the market along with what appetite there is for delivering this service. DHSC/OLS would like to use this market engagement to inform the specification for commissioning a supplier for what is an anticipated 18-month contract. This is not a call for competition, but an opportunity to gather feedback to better understand market capabilities, refine the procurement strategy, and encourage supplier engagement. Interested parties can access the relevant documents via the Atamis system at https://health-family.force.com/s/Welcome using the contract reference.
