CPI have a requirement to procure a food grade laboratory homogeniser to ensure fulfilment of existing and future projects to produce food grade samples. This laboratory scale unit is required to run in a high care food area and be a scale-down device for pilot/demonstration homogenisation units of the same technology. CPI has an initial requirement for a benchtop unit for use in a R&D laboratory. The equipment will have a continuous mode of operation at high pressure for the disruption of biological cells or other bio-based feedstocks. The equipment will enable testing at small process volume scales but provide results which are comparable to those achieved with larger scale equipment based on hydraulic piston technology.

CPI have a requirement to create two usable areas from a redundant transformer room at the Neville Hamlin Building facility, Sedgefield. The redundant transformer has been removed and the room is now empty. The plan is to use the room as a storage area (1st Floor) and a workshop area (Ground Floor). The proposal is to utilise this space, which is currently open from floor to ceiling height, to create 2 useable areas. The ground floor to be used as a workshop area and the first floor (following the installation of a mezzanine structure and other works) to be used as a spare's storage area. The works will involve supply and installation of a mezzanine floor, structural works including installation of a door opening, electrical works, fire detection, joinery to existing doors and application to local council for building regs compliance. The Machine Level SCADA system is required to provide a centralised client-server SCADA application for solving process visualisation and controls related to tasks in the PACE production and process automation line. Tender to establish single supplier framework for the provision of Laboratory Tangential Flow Filtration Apparatus and After Sales Support. The nanomedicines capability is growing rapidly at CPI. To support this growth, there are key pieces of equipment required to increase capability and/or capacity in nanomedicines. Many nanoparticle processes require a purification step immediately post-loading/encapsulation. This needs to be a scalable process, to enable innovation to move towards commercialisation. Therefore, CPI need to buy an additional Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) equipment to perform this function. CPI 's National Formulation Centre already have Repligen TFF systems (KR2i and KMPi), therefore, to ensure processes can be run to similar scales and be considered identical from a product perspective, the equipment must be able to perform to a process identical to that of the Repligen TFF KR2i system or comparable system. Tender to establish a single supplier framework for the supply of Parallel Plate Rheometer and Aftersales Support. To complement the enhancement of thermoplastic processing capability, CPI are looking to procure a new, parallel plate rheometer with enhanced features such as to carry out the rheometry characterisation at an enhanced temperature to aid with the development of these formulations. This PPlate rheometer will be used for the characterisation of polymeric formulations at a trial scale for the development of novel blends. Blends will be modified based on these study results to provide further optimisation. The interest area is broad and it will include commodity polymers, engineering polymers, biopolymer, adhesives, gels liquids etc. The main take-off from this PPlate rheometer will be understanding the viscoelastic properties of the polymeric material and in turn ability to predict its performance on a real time application.
