Refurbishment of two Broads Authority public washing and toileting facilitiesIntroduction
The Broads Authority is exploring options to modernise and improve public amenities at Acle Bridge and Great Yarmouth Yacht Station.
This includes, at Acle Bridge, the refurbishment of existing public toilets and the installation of accessible public showers to an existing public toilet block, as well as the refurbishment of public restrooms and showers at Great Yarmouth Yacht Station.
This PME seeks to gather information from suppliers, contractors, and designers regarding innovative approaches, cost-effective solutions, and technical considerations.
Background - Acle Bridge
The current facility at Acle Bridge was constructed around 1970 and consists of male and female toilet cubicles and wash basins. The brick-built structure is sound and has a serviceable connection to the public sewer.
The 1970s structure has outdated fittings, utilitarian and practical interiors and poor lighting. The current facility does not provide shower facilities. The Broads Authority seeks a modern, durable, and low-maintenance solution that aligns with its sustainability goals of low water and energy consumption, easy cleaning and care, with robust materials suitable for public use
Background - Great Yarmouth Yacht Station
The showering and toilet facilities, constructed in the 1960s, comprise male and female toilets, washbasins, and shower cubicles (two in each section).
The Broads Authority seeks a modern, durable, and low maintenance washing and toileting solution that aligns with its sustainability goals of low water & energy consumption, easy cleaning and care, with robust materials suitable for public use.
Project Objectives
The two refurbishment locations need to bring the antiquated toileting and washing facilities up to a modern and sustainable standard, providing:
• Hygiene, ease of care, maintenance and safety.
• At Acle Bridge, add showering cubicles to the existing space.
• At Great Yarmouth Yacht Station, refurbish the toilet and showers facilities.
• Incorporate low water, low energy and modern LED lighting
• Ensure vandal resistance and facility durability.
