Brighter Futures for Children would like to invite all interested parties to a Market Engagement event: 30th November 2023, 10:30 to 12:00 at the Civic Offices, Bridge Street, RG1 2LU.
This is a joint event with Reading Borough Council (RBC).
RBC are reviewing licensing arrangements for hire vehicles and would like feedback from those currently delivering school transport.
Brighter Futures for Children is reviewing the ways in which we provide school transport and would like feedback from current and potential providers on our proposals.
Our proposals include:
• reducing the number of single collections;
• reduce the number of home pick-ups and introduce routes with pick-up points;
• reduce our emissions inline with our environmental policies by using larger vehicles;
• working with our neighbouring local authorities to reduce the number of routes.

Brighter Futures for Children (BFfC) are inviting providers to tender for a number of retained placements using block contracts with Children’s Residential Home providers based within a 20 mile radius of Reading. The aim of this is: • Improved Brighter Futures for Children achievement of the target to accommodate 80% of children within 20 miles of Reading boundary.• To achieve more competitive rates and better access to beds locally.
This holiday provision is for children who receive benefits-related free school meals. It will of course be optional for eligible children to attend this provision if they wish.Local authorities have been asked to ensure that the offer of free holiday club provision is available for all children eligible for benefit related free school meals in the Reading Borough Council area. There are approximately 4800 children eligible for benefit related free school meals attending school in Reading. As a private company Brighter Futures for Children Limited are required to appoint auditors in line with the Companies Act. The Company therefore requires the services of an external auditor. Brighter Futures for Children Limited, is already 5 years into a 7year contract with Reading Borough Council (RBC) to run Children’s Services in Reading. The year end is 31 March 2024, and this tender is to provide external audit services for remaining two year accounting periods 2024/25, 2025/26. Please note there is a possible extension of a further three years should RBC issue a further contract to Brighter Futures for Children Limited beyond March 2026.Overall, the size of the entity is £75m turnover per annum and 500 staff are employed.
