Braintree District Council (BDC) is seeking Design and Build contractors in relation to the reconfiguration of the Silver End Surgery is located in Silver End, Braintree District, Essex. Plans available on request. The surgery is owned by BDC and leased by HCRG Care Group. It is a purpose-built surgery that was constructed in 1997. However, it is smaller than the recognised standard for the practice's current weighted patient list size of just over 4,000. Predicted growth will impact the practice and increase pressure on existing space in the surgery. It is therefore important to the delivery of patient's services that best use is made of the space available. The building is detached, but has a small overall footprint meaning that an extension to the property is not possible. There is an upstairs, however this space is restricted by the roof and does not lend itself to further expansion. A reconfiguration scheme that results in more space dedicated to patient consultations would be a welcome improvement. Available on request, is an example reconfiguration plan, which shows some suggested improvements and also include removing the examination rooms and having an examination area in the consulting rooms, making the waiting room into a new consulting room and changing the reception / records area and main entrance into a reception and waiting area. However, we are open to consider different layouts. Ideally we would like to create two extra consulting rooms and reception would need to be behind a screen to protect patient privacy, as the waiting area would be much closer to reception. The current budget for this project is in the region of £345,000. The procurement documents are estimated to be issued in mid-June with the receipt of responses closing 30 days later. The procurement route will be agreed following this Early Engagement exercise. A questionnaire will be sent to interested bidders for completion. Please confirm your interest via sending an email to lili.roqueta@braintree.gov.uk with cc to jenny.beck@braintree.gov.uk as soon as possible and by 5pm on Wednesday 22 May 2024 at the latest. Questionnaires subsequently sent via email to suppliers must be completed by Thursday 23 May 2024.
