Bolsover District Council wishes to appoint a principal contractor on the basis of a JCT contract for their Kitchen Upgrade Programme within tenanted council owned homes.
The work comprises both structural and non-structural upgrades including new units, worktops, plumbing, electrical and tiling, within occupied properties.
Contractors may also be required to undertake responsive kitchen upgrade works within vacant 'void' properties upon request, working to a 4-week timeframe in completing all required works.
Proposed start on site is April 2022 and will comprise (1+2+2 years) duration.
The majority of work will take place in occupied properties so the tenant needs and requirements are paramount. The successful contractor will be expected to show flexibility, excellence in tenant support / liaison and work in partnership with the Contract Administrator / Building Surveyor to meet and exceed tenant expectation and levels of satisfaction.
Bolsover District Council have recognised a need for investment in their housing stock and in particular those buildings which provide accommodation to elderly and vulnerable tenants.
This project will see the modernisation and upgrade of all flats and communal areas within sheltered accommodation at Valley View Hillstown and the construction of a new communal room extension to add to the existing facilities. The optional construction of bungalows within the grounds are included within the scheme as per specification.
The existing building is currently dependent upon an ageing and dilapidated heating service, offers out-dated living accommodation and has non-standardised kitchen, shower / bathroom facilities.
The Tenderer shall be the Principal Contractor and Main Contractor for this project which shall encompass the heating upgrade programme, modernisation and layout changes to bedsits and flats as specified, kitchen upgrade programme, full bathroom to wetroom conversion programme, installation of smoke / heat detection alarms and improvements to fire stopping and the installation of sprinkler systems within all areas of the building.
