Sustainable Healthcare Waste Management and Minimisation Services
2gether Support Solutions Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary company of East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, ("2gether's Procurement services") is working with Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust, Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, Medway Community Healthcare CIC, and Medway NHS Foundation Trust (collectively known as the Southeast NHS Total Waste Consortium, the "Consortium") is issuing an Invitation To Tender ("ITT") in connection with a competitive procurement for Sustainable Healthcare Waste Management and Minimisation Services (the "Services").
The Consortium's waste strategy aims to improve waste management practices and make them more efficient and sustainable, to save on cost, improve hospital function, and reduce the impact on the environment in line with NHS net zero carbon commitments. Whilst making efficiency savings in this area of expenditure is significantly important to the Consortium, other service delivery improvements are also required, including reducing the overall barriers to entry to encourage greater interest and competition from the market - irrespective of Bidder size, niche ability or differing service model offering.
This contract is divided into lots and Tenders may be submitted for all lots. The lots are:
1) Clinical Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Healthcare Waste
2) Reusable Sharps
3) Domestic and Recyclable Healthcare Waste
4) Confidential Healthcare Waste
5) Total Healthcare Waste Management Service
Selection and award criteria are as stated in the procurement documents. Price is not the only award criterion.

The Authorising Engineer (Ventilation) shall provide support to 2gether Support Solutions Ltd, Director of Capital & Estates on the operational management of the ventilation safety programme to eradicate the 2gether Support Solutions Ltd residual backlog maintenance risks relating to ventilation safety (identified in appropriate risk assessments, the 2gether Support Solutions risk register and regular condition surveys).
The Authorising Engineer (Ventilation) shall provide independent professional advice and support to the Senior Operational Manager, the Estates and Capital Development Teams and the Director of Capital & Estates for all new developments, review documentation on verification and witness the process as necessary.

The KCH Mechanical Thrombectomy project is a Siemens turnkey project that
requires some enablement works to be completed prior to the start of construction.

• assess, and prevent, the risks involved in the carriage of dangerous goods. This includes risks to people, property and the environment; and
• oversee, and ensure, our compliance with Health Technical Memorandum 07-01: Safe and sustainable management of healthcare waste, along with supporting the drive to net zero carbon emissions by 2045.
Other DGSA responsibilities shall include:
• monitoring compliance with the legal requirements governing the carriage of dangerous goods;
• providing advice on how to transport dangerous goods safely;
• investigating any accidents or infringements of regulations and keeping records of them through reports;
• monitoring the provision of training and advice to other 2gether staff;
• reporting incidents and accidents to the Department for Transport; and
• based on their findings, completing annual audit reports on our performance.
