The National Coal Mining Museum for England are looking to appoint a combined Architecture & Museum Design team, comprising multiple specialisms, to carry out a feasibility study and options appraisal on the remodelling of 'The Hub' core building at the National Coal Mining Museum, including its curtilage, into a transformed national museum complex, and associated potential adaption of nearby buildings and spaces to create a new Learning & Community Centre and new staff accommodation. The exercise is expected to create concept designs and costings, to RIBA 2, on a scheme that will have transformational impact on the role that the core building and associated buildings play in the future of the Museum, including extended galleries, extended café-restaurant, effective arrival and orientation space, boosted retail area, reconfigured event and commercial spaces, including extending adjacent research library, a best-practice learning and community centre, improved and consolidated staff accommodation, and create an exemplary and intuitive visitor flow and experience. All enquiries should be sent to Dr John Tanner, Head of Masterplan & Capital Projects, National Coal Mining Museum for England, Caphouse Colliery, New Road, Overton, Wakefield, West Yorkshire WF4 4RH.
