The MOPAC VAWG Expert Reference Group is an independent, non-statutory group of VAWG sector experts, whose role is to represent women and girls, victims and survivors, and their organisations, at decision-making levels. Members of the Expert Reference Group (ERG) share insights, expertise and constructive challenge, and speak with (as much as possible) a collective voice, to ensure that the needs, experience and priorities of the VAWG VCS are represented across various platforms, including the London VAWG Board, MOPAC VAWG commissioning and the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). There is a current service in place, provided by the Women’s Resource Centre (WRC). Co-chairs of the ERG are elected by member organisations, and participate as members of the London VAWG Board. MOPAC also consults with the ERG regularly to gather feedback on strategic priorities. The ERG facilitates engagement between the VAWG sector and the MPS, and acts as a forum for consultation on the MPS’ work to improve trust and confidence. The purpose of this project is to redesign and commission a specialist VAWG VCS-led secretariat service to maintain an independent, non-statutory VAWG Expert Reference Group for London so that voices of women and girls are reflected in decision-making across the VAWG system.
