Background The LGA's resilience, safety and regulation team has developed a programme of support for councils around a range of issues, including tackling extremism and developing cohesive and resilient communities. These can be sensitive areas of work, and present a range of evolving challenges. The LGA is keen to help councils understand and respond to these through deepening understanding of current and emerging issues, activists and their tactics; developing and sharing good practice in strategic and operational delivery at a local level; and facilitating learning and mutual support across local authorities. The LGA's work includes supporting the Special Interest Group on Countering Extremism (SIGCE); a local authority network funded by the LGA, which works to support councils and partner agencies to respond to extremism and cohesion challenges at a local level, bringing local authorities and partners together across England and Wales to share their learning and experiences, explore common challenges, collaborate, and identify new and emerging issues. As part of the SIGCE's work we have developed a half-day training session for local authorities to explore how to respond to the short and long-term impacts of anti-minority extremism. This includes devising a scenario depicting a series of events before, during and after a period of anti-minority activity in a fictional town, with training attendees invited to discuss how they might respond. To help exemplify some of the challenges faced by local authorities in this sort of scenario, we are seeking a supplier to devise and produce a short video clip that can be shown as part of the training session. Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
