The Harris, Museum, Art Gallery, and Library (the Harris) houses a permanent collection of fine art, decorative art, including textiles and fashion, and social history. The Harris would like to appoint a conservation provider for the following services and treatment of approximately 371 objects that will feature in new displays when the Harris reopens in Summer 2024. Remedial conservation including but not limited to easel paintings, gilded picture frames, sculpture, history objects, ceramics and glass, costume and textiles. Technical services including glazing/reglazing of easel paintings and making necessary frame adjustments and repairs. Advice regarding targeted freezer treatment of at-risk textiles before they are returned to the Harris building. Costs relating to the hire of equipment and purchase of materials will be covered by the client. Support for the installation of costume, including padding for mannequins and hanging sleeves/supports for flat textiles.
