South Cambridgeshire District Council- Vehicle Testing Station Contract

Description

SCDC is responsible for the licensing of hackney carriages and private hire vehicles within the district. Legislation restricts these vehicles to a maximum of eight passengers. There are currently approximately 880 vehicles licensed. Prior to a vehicle being licensed it must be tested irrespective of age to ensure it is mechanically sound and fit for purpose. The District Council is obliged from time to time to review the contract for the testing of its licensed hackney carriages and private hire vehicles and is seeking companies who are interested in undertaking the inspection and testing of these vehicles. In addition to the testing of standard vehicles, facilities must be available for the inspection and testing of stretched limousines, long wheel based and double axle vehicles to ensure that they comply with District Council requirements. In order to meet these objectives SCDC is letting a concessionary services contract to appoint a number of providers who can provide these Vehicle Testing Station services.
