South Cambridgeshire District Council - Electric Over Blankets

Description

SCDC is looking for a suitable contractor to source and organise delivery of initially 500 electric over-blankets, potentially rising to 600, to residents in South Cambridgeshire to help combat the cost-of-living crisis during winter. Vulnerable residents have been pre-selected by SCDC and will have the opportunity to claim their electric blanket, paid for by SCDC. Once they have confirmed their details to SCDC, these will be passed weekly to the successful contractor within a spreadsheet, to arrange delivery through a third party (e.g. Royal Mail, DPD etc). The successful contractor will: • Buy 500 electric blankets up front or be able to guarantee their constant supply • Organise storage of the blankets before postage • Post the blankets to the individual recipients as and when orders come in from SCDC SCDC are not able to guarantee the spread of orders, but it is expected there will initially be a high volume in the first two months, before orders slow down until all stock has been exhausted. The first orders will likely be at the start of October 2023 so the blankets must be available by then. Electric blanket specification: Size at least a single (approximately 160cm x 100cm), 150w, voltage 220/240v, UK 3 pin plug, electric over-blanket with some form of timer or temperature control that turns the blanket off should it reach this temperature. Please note we require a multi-use electric over blanket, NOT just for use in bed. Postage requirements: Must be posted within 5 working days of receiving each order spreadsheet from SCDC. Must be posted at least second class and with a trusted delivery company that can arrange for a redelivery if the resident is not in. Please note, each blanket will be delivered to a different address. SCDC can guarantee the purchase of 500 blankets, and if demand for the service is high, will be able to request the purchase of an additional 100 blankets, however this cannot be guaranteed at this stage.
